“Red Lights” gets the Green Light
Scheduled For 2011 In Spain
Cillian Murphy will star alongside Sigourney Weaver and Robert De Niro in Red Lights, a psychological thriller written, directed and produced by Rodrigo Cortes. Adrian Guerra and his Barcelona-based Versus Entertainment are also producers on the project.
Parlay Films has acquired international rights (excluding Spain and South Korea) and is selling Red Lights at AFM. Red Lights is co financed by CSe Entertainment in association with Seoul-based Blue Storm Productions. Parlay’s Lisa Wilson, CSe’s Cindy Cowan and Blue Storm’s Y.K. Bae serve as executive producers.
RED LIGHTS follows a psychologist (Weaver) and her protégé (Murphy), whose studies of paranormal activity lead them to a world-renowned psychic (De Niro) and some astounding revelations. Principal photography commences in February in Spain.
Following his role as the billionaire heir apparent/mark in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, Murphy segued directly into the British independent psychological thriller The Retreat, written and directed by Carl Tibbets and co-starring Thandie Newton and Jamie Bell. He is currently shooting Andrew Niccol’s untitled sci-fi thriller with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried for New Regency and 20th Century Fox.
UTA’s Independent Film Group arranged financing, helped package the film and will broker the US distribution. CAA, Lou Coulson Associates and The Lisa Richards Agency represent Murphy. David Weber of Sloane, Offer, Weber Dern LLP negotiated on Murphy’s behalf.
