Interview with Cindy Cowan “Positive Vibes Only”
Today we are interviewing Cindy Cowan @cindycowan1000 on instagram – recognized as powerhouse in Hollywood, award winning producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, finding joy in helping others.
Question: What is your favorite documentary or movie?
Cindy: Schindler’s List. I loved the way this was told, by Steven Spielberg ,the cinematic photography was also perfect…Who could forget the black and white turning to color of the small child in Red. It made me learn, it made me care and it made me cry. This was a perfect film. Close second…Life is Beautiful, Shawshank Redemption.
Question: What have you created that you are most proud of?
Cindy: I am proud of every movie that I have made…but my favorite film was Very Bad things. This started Peter Bergs’ career and was the film that the Hangover and others were based on. I also got to work with Jon Favreau as an actor, before he became a huge director.
Question: What’s the best and worst thing about getting older?
Cindy: I’ll start with the bad…you just don’t recover as quickly. No matter how good of shape you are in, you tend to slow down a bit. But the good out ways the bad, you gain confidence, knowledge, and an appreciation of life. A sense of gratitude for all you have accomplished and experienced. That is something you can’t teach, you have to live.
Question: When do you feel truly “alive”?
Cindy: When I travel…I love experiencing other cultures and countries.
Last year I started the year in Africa, went to Israel for my birthday and ended the year in Bali. It was amazing!
Question: What are you most likely to become famous for?
Cindy: My career in Hollywood as already made me quite well known.
Different people know me for different films as well as a production , finance and distribution company that I started way back, when there weren’t that many females doing what I was. But I would love to be remembered for doing something great to help others. I definitely want to leave my footprint on this planet.
Question: What is the worst advice you see or hear given in your trade or area of expertise?
Cindy: Since I am in film..I will talk about this.
I hate when people say they are going to finance a slate of films that they already have because someone told them to spread out their risk…If those projects are sitting there for years waiting for funding of an entire slate, they probably aren’t very good or they would already be set up. If anything announce the fund, then pick projects going forward. Also…when someone tells me they put in $1 to 2 million dollars into a small film, and paid for the entire budget to get their feet wet in the industry, I feel bad for them. They have been given bad advice. They could have put the same amount of money as the equity portion of a film worth $6 to 8 million, had better cast and a better promise of a return.
Question: What is your motto for life?
Cindy: my instagram says Positive Vibes Only. It’s how I try to live my life.
