millennium-logoEXCLUSIVE: Millennium Films just bought the action spec Eye In the Sky, about an LAPD helicopter squad that tries to nab a Mexican drug lord who has come to Los Angeles to celebrate his niece’s quinceanera. A cat-and-mouse pursuit ensues from the sky as law enforcement tries to capture him. Mark Gill brought the project into Millennium, and he and Cindy Cowan will produce. Eye In the Sky was written by Richard D’Ovidio, who wrote The Call and just scripted this great little film I saw Thursday night called The Forger.

The Forger stars John Travolta, Tye Sheridan and Christopher Plummer and is being released on VOD prior to heading to the theaters on April 24 via Lionsgate’s Roadside. I hope this film does not get lost among the VOD rubble as it is a shining example of great acting, writing and filmmaking coming together for a fun, yet sweet, and entertaining movie.

The Call, which starred Halle Berry and was released in 2013, ended up grossing $68.5M worldwide on a budget of around $15M. The writer’s other work includes The Damned, Thirteen Ghosts and Exit Wounds.
